Grand Lake Horse Camp
|
Grand Lake Horse Camp offers an equestrian riding program for girls between the ages of 9 and 14. They can choose to ride English, Western or a combination of both. Horses are assigned to each girl based on her ability and the style she chooses to ride. Riding lessons are part of the daily routine. Grand Lake Horse Camp provides all tack. Safety is a key element of the cirriculum. The campers learn the responsibility of taking care of a horse, which includes feeding, grooming, saddling, daily riding, and the many other aspects of horsemanship. Our highly knowledgeable instructors give daily lessons to each camper in both group sessions and individual instrution.
Grand Lake Horse Camp is located at Royal Horse Ranch on Monkey Island, surrounded by beautiful Grand Lake O'The Cherokees in northeastern Oklahoma. Eighty acres, including indoor and outdoor riding arenas, beautiful pastures, a cross country jumping course, a large trail class and the scenic lakefront are part of the camp experience. Trail rides, cookouts and other horse related activities are included in the week long sessions.
Campers arrive on Sunday afternoon and stay in the "Bit & Bridle Bunkhouse" with a live-in counselor. Campers depart on Saturday morning with a featured demonstration for parents and guests.

The tuition for a one week session is $800.00. Campers can register for as many sessions as desired. A discount of $100.00 per week is given if registration is received
prior to December 31, 2007.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE WILL ROGERS TURNPIKE (1-44) FROM TULSA HEADING EAST TO JOPLIN.
Take the Vinita exit and follow signs to Monkey Island - after the exit, take the first left on to Highway 60/69 (about 10 miles) to Highway 85 to Ketchum/Bernice. Follow 85 which turns into Highway 85A to Bernice (Bernice 3, Monkey Island 7) and continue to the end where you will find two convenience stores on the corner. Turn right on Highway 125 south 1 mile. The ranch is located on the right side of the highway and you will see three signs (one for Grand Lake Horse Camp, one says Horseback Riding and the other is Royal Horse Ranch). Our driveway is paved and you can't see the barn or house from the highway. Our driveway number is E 273 Rd.

Take the Afton/Grove exit and follow signs to Monkey Island - after the exit, take the first right on to Highway 60/69/59 to the first left (after the Buffalo Ranch) on to Highway 59 towards Grove. Follow 59 about 4 miles to Highway 125 and turn right (South). Follow Highway 125 south (lots of curves), past Hwy. 85A and two convenience stores to Monkey Island (½ mile south of Martin Landing Motel which is on the left side of the highway). The ranch is located on the right side of the highway and you will see three signs (one says Horseback Riding, one says Grand Lake Horse Camp and the other is Royal Horse Ranch). Our driveway is paved and you can't see the barn or house from the highway.
